1 Arrival – Kigali City Tour & Transfer to Volcanoes NP

Pick up by guide from your location as earlier communicated either from the accommodation in Kigali or from the Airport and go for a city tour, visit the genocide memorial site. This is a memorial centre is where most Rwandese were brutally killed during the 1994 genocide, while there you will get to know more about this place. Thereafter, visit some markets and craft shops where you will buy souvenirs. Have lunch there and in the afternoon travel to Volcanoes National Park.

Arrive at your accommodation in Volcanoes in the late evening. Have dinner there and an overnight stay.

2 Gorilla Trekking – Departure

Wake up early, have breakfast and your guide will take you to the park head office for briefing about trekking gorillas. After briefing, follow the ranger guide assigned to you in the forest to look for the gorillas. Trekking can take between two hours to eight hours basing on where the gorillas are located. When you meet the gorilla family only 1hour is given to you so use it efficiently, take enough memorial photographs and ask your guides questions such that you learn more about the gorilla behaviors and way of life.

Ensure to carry some packed lunch, a camera, drinking water and a walking stick. You could use the help of a porter to help you carry your bags in case you can’t carry them on your own. After the trek drive back to the lodge, freshen up, check out and your driver will drop you off where he picked you from.
