You’ll have many chances to see iconic African animals like elephants, lions, leopards, wild dogs and much more that are often too small to distinguish from a vehicle.

But it’s not just big game that’s fascinating here. Slowing down your pace allows you to tune into your surroundings and connect with nature on a deeper level. When you’re out on foot, you can marvel at the small details that make this place so special; intricate wildflowers that bloom after rainfall or insects buzzing around.

We’ll also provide practical tips on how best to prepare for your journey so you stay safe and comfortable throughout it. Top Places to Walk in Zambia

Zambia is a huge country, with lots of parks and reserves. And there’s one thing that I can guarantee: each of them offers unique walking safari opportunities.

1. South Luangwa National Park

South Luangwa National Park is an amazing place to walk around in, and it has a ton of wildlife like elephants, lions, leopards, wild dogs and colourful birds. The area is also very lush and green. Walking safaris here are led by professional guides who give you all the information you’ll need about this beautiful park.

2. North Luangwa National Park

North Luangwa National park looks amazing on pictures but they don’t capture the true beauty of it all! It’s a remote place with little tourists so you’ll get to enjoy everything it has to offer privately! This adventure takes walkers deep into the African bush where not many dare venture.

3. Lower Zambezi National Park

This park lies along the banks of the Zambezi River which makes for some pretty breathtaking scenes. Other than that, there are big populations of elephants hippos crocodiles and antelopes like waterbuck zebras and buffalos (just to name a few). So come prepared for loads of animal encounters!

4.Kafue National Park

This park is massive – stretching across 22,400 sq km! With such vast space comes great diversity which attracts many different types of creatures including elephants cheetahs hyenas and more!

5.Liuwa Plain National Park

Although less known than its counterparts, Liuwa Plain doesn’t play around when it comes to wildebeest migrations or wildlife numbers in general! Here you can find large groups roaming around accompanied by cheetahs hyenas wild dogs etc..

What you can check

Why travel with Tranquil Safaris?

116 itineraries are published on this site, across 12 destinations; 49 of them run through Uganda, where the company is based and licensed. Any one of them can be read in full — the route, the parks, the nights — before you speak to anybody. What follows is the case for using us, and not one line of it asks you to take our word for it.

  1. The whole trip is written down first

Every trip of four days or more is set out one day at a time: where the day goes, what happens in it, where the night is spent. The one-, two- and three-day trips are written up in full as prose instead. Nothing is held back until you enquire.

  2. A park is named only when a day is spent in it

A trip is listed against a park because its itinerary genuinely spends time there, never because the name turns up in the write-up. 40 parks and reserves are covered on that rule, and each one lists the trips that actually go.

    Browse parks and reserves
  3. Small groups, or the vehicle to yourself

Groups are kept small — typically four to twelve guests — and a private departure can be arranged instead.

  4. A planner answers, not a checkout

There is no basket on this site, no price list and no booking engine. Shortlist what interests you in the trip planner, or write from the contact page: the message reaches the people who plan the routes.
