3 Day Congo Gorilla Safari Adventure
This 3 Days Congo Gorilla tour introduces visitors to Congo's mountain gorilla in the Virunga National Park, providing the best wildlife experience on the African safari tours. The tour begins and ends in Kigali, Rwanda, guided by Gorilla Trek Africa. Democratic Republic of Congo is the least visited gorilla tourism destination, which makes a safari there truly adventurous. Trek one of the 8 gorilla families habituated in Virunga National Park on the safari vacation.
Day 1: Arrival and pick - Tour of Kigali city - Transfer to Virunga National Park
The Guide picks up visitors from the airport or hotel in Kigali. After briefing about the tour, the Guide takes them for a tour of the city of Kigali. Visitors see the former presidential palace, the genocide memorial site, the main city market and artisan shops on the safari holidays. This is a great opportunity to buy souvenir or gifts for friends and family. After the morning city tour, the driver starts the journey to the Congo border. On reaching the Congo border, visitors have lunch, visit the migration office and are handed over to the Virunga National Park Authorities for transfer to the lodge in the park on the African safari vacation.
Dinner and accommodation is at Mikeno Lodge (Luxury) or Kibumba Tented Camp (Mid-range).
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Congo - Evening Relaxation or visit the Senkwekwe Centre
Visitors wake up very early to take breakfast as they wait for the park authorities to pick them up from the hotel on the safari adventures. The benefit of staying close to the Virunga national park office is that the briefing for gorilla tracking starts on time. There are 8 habituated gorilla groups in Congo. Visitors are allocated a gorilla group based on their level of fitness among other factors. Listen to instructions from the Guides and Rangers while with the gorilla family. Stay calm and don't make unnecessary noise and movements that might provoke the gorillas. After the one hour with the gorillas, return back to the starting point where the guide is met to drive back to the lodge for rest on the African safari tours. In the evening, take a walk, relax at the hotel or visit the gorilla orphanage at the Senkwekwe Centre if staying in Mikeno lodge.

Day 3: Transfer back to Kigali for departure
Wake up at own leisure, take breakfast and prepare to start the journey back to Kigali on the safari vacation. The park authorities drive visitors up to the border crossing point where they cross back into Rwanda and meet a driver from Tranquil Safaris on the safari holidays.
