The 2 days Rwanda Wildlife safari will take you to Akagera National Park, it is Rwanda’s only Savannah Park covering an area of 1,122Km2. Akagera was established in 1934 and it gets this name from River Akagera which makes its way through the Park and pours its waters into different lakes like Lake Victoria, Lake Ihema and other water bodies. The park hosts various wildlife and bird species.
Safari Highlights
Pick up from the Airport or your Hotel in Kigali by our skilled guide who will brief you about the safari to Akagera and transfer you to the Southern part of the Park through the spectacular countryside endowed with rolling hills. It takes about 2hours and 30minutes to get there and upon arrival, check in at the lodge of your choice. Thereafter continue for a game drive where you will see a number of wild animals such as Leopards, Antelopes, Rhinos, Elephants, Buffaloes, Lions and Giraffes. After the drive transfer to the lodge for lunch as you prepare for a boat cruise in the afternoon.
The boat ride is done along Lake Ihema which is a hub for hippos, crocodiles, and various bird species such as kingfishers, shoebill and fish eagles. The boat ride lasts for about 3hours after which you will transfer to the lodge for diner and an overnight.
Accommodation Options;
Be early to rise, and have breakfast. Then check out of the lodge and drive to the northern part of the Park following the eye-catching sceneries and watching wildlife along the grasslands. While on this game drive, expect to see many wildlife species, you will also see vast swamps, kilala plains, the hippo beach and spectacular Mutumba hills. After leave the Park and return to Kigali, your guide will either drop you off at your Hotel or the Airport in Kigali
