3 Days Rwanda Chimpanzee Tracking Nyungwe

Nyungwe National Park is Rwanda’s selling point for Chimpanzees and Canopy walks. So 3 days will take you to this Park for a remarkable experience with Chimpanzees, a guided Canopy walk, and a nature walk. The Park has over 400 Chimpanzee individuals and many other primates with 13 species recorded, 310 recorded bird spices, around 200 tree species and 1,068 species of plants.

Day 1: To Nyungwe with a stop at the Ethnographic Museum – Canopy Walk

Depart from Kigali after being briefed by our guide about the safari, embark on a 5 hour journey to Nyungwe Forest. Have a short stop at Rwanda’s biggest Museum known as the Ethnographic Museum, it was built in the 1990s and holds several of Rwanda’s historical and cultural traditions. After continue to Nyungwe, arrive at the lodge and check in then head to the starting point of the Canopy walk to enjoy a walking experience and an aerial view of Nyungwe on this hanging bridge, you will also see many birds and monkeys. Later head to the lodge, unwind, have diner and spend a night there. Accommodation options

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking and a Guided Nature Walk

Enjoy a very early breakfast, and your driver will take you to Uwinka Center where you will be briefed about Chimpanzee tracking. After that, you will be assigned the trail to follow to look for the chimps with a skilled Park guide. Chimpanzees are mobile animals hence very tricky to determine how long the trek will last, but only one hour will be given to you after seeing the chimps. During this trek, you will see different plants, trees, birds and also other primates like the Angola colobus, L’Hoest’s monkey, Vervet monkey, Olive Baboons, Owl-faced monkeys, Grey checked monkey, Red-tailed monkey, and the Silver monkey. After tracking, have lunch, relax and go for a guided nature walk through the park to see more spices of birds, primate species and spectacular water falls. Nyungwe National Park has 13 different trails where Nature walks are done. If chimpanzee tracking ends early, you could follow the famous water falls nature walk trail, but if time doesn’t allow do a short walk and return to the lodge for diner. Accommodation options

Day 3: Return to Kigali with a Stop at Gisakura Tea Factory

Rise up early, have breakfast and check out of the lodge. Your driver will transfer you back to Kigali but with a stop at Gisakura Tea Estate for an experience with the staff there who will show you how tea is grown, picked, processed and finally packed. After this experience proceed to Kigali with lunch en route arriving in the late afternoon. The driver will drop you off at the hotel or Airport.
