4 Days Rwanda Gorillas and Golden Monkeys

The 4 days safari takes you to Volcanoes National Park, this is Rwanda’s most visited National Park with about 380 Gorillas. The park has 10 habituated gorilla families that are made available for people to trek and only 8 people are allowed to trek a gorilla group.

Day 1: To Volcanoes National Park

You will be picked up by a Tranquil safaris guide from either the Airport or Hotel in Kigali. He will brief you about the safari and take you around Kigali for a city tour with a visit at the Kigali Genocide Memorial. Thereafter, leave Kigali and embark on the journey through the spectacular and tranquil countryside to Volcanoes National Park, home to the Mighty Gorillas. The journey lasts for about 3 hours, when you arrive drive to the lodge, check in and spend a night as nature rewards you with its own tranquility. Accommodation Options;

Day 2 Gorilla Trekking - Volcanoes National Park Rwanda

You shall rise up early, have breakfast and head to the park headquarters where you will be briefed. Thereafter, proceed into the tropical forest to trek gorillas. We know that on this day your expectations can’t be cut short since you will be able to see the gorillas. Trekking can last between 2 to 6 hours since their location from the previous night can’t be predictable, gorillas move a lot in search for what to eat. When you see them, follow the rules and guidelines as told to you by your ranger guide, take enough photos as you can and ensure that you enjoy the 1 hour given to you to the fullest as you watch them feed, play and socialize with each other. After the trek, retire at the lodge and if you are still in time before you go to the lodge you can first visit Iby’iwacu village for a remarkable experience of Rwanda’s culture. Day 3: Golden Monkey trekking and Dian Fossey’s Grave tour

Have breakfast and drive to the Park head offices again for a Golden monkey trek briefing. Ensure that you packed all the essentials, if you are not able to carry them yourself there are available porters who can help at a fee. After briefing, you shall be guided into the jungle by the park rangers to see the beautiful golden monkeys. These monkeys are a critically endangered species and face many threats from humans. Golden monkeys live in bigger groups of over 80 individuals, they are cute and playful and watching them jump from one branch of tree to another is rewarding. After tracking, the guides will proceed with you on a walk to visit the grave of Dian Fossey, a primatologist who protected the mountain gorillas from extinction in Rwanda through her research. You will hear more stories about her life and research and after drive to the lodge, relax and have diner as you share you day’s experience. Accommodation Options;

Day 4: Return to Kigali

Enjoy breakfast without rush, thereafter check out of the lodge and meet your guide to transfer you to the Airport in case you are flying out of Rwanda that very day. However, if you still have time in the country the guide will drop you off at your residence.
