NOTE: Gorilla Double Trekking
Bwindi has four sectors; known as Ruhija, Buhoma, Rushaga and Nkuringo whereas Mgahinga has one sector known as Nyakagezi. All these sectors offer the best gorilla trekking experience.
Some tourists go for Ruhija and Buhoma or do Rushaga and Nkuringo or repeat the trek in them sector they trekked the previous day but see another family. It is also possible to trek gorillas in Bwindi and the next day you trek in Nyakagezi sector found in Mgahinga. All these sectors have different gorilla families that can be trekked.
Double trekking gorillas requires the trekker to purchase two permits each costing $700. Why some people choose trekking twice is because it gives them a chance to see the uniqueness and compare different characters of gorillas in different gorilla families. On the one day trekking safari, only one hour is given whereas when you double trek two hours are given to you in total hence having more time with these gentle giants. For this itinerary we are going to consider you tracking in the sector but different gorilla families.
You could conclude the 4 days Double Gorilla Double trekking with a visit to Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale to simply relax and have a good time on Uganda’s deepest lake. Transferring to this lake can be on the third day after trekking gorillas, and go for a boat cruise on the lake as well as swim in the lake since it is Bilharzia free and safe.
Also you could opt to start and end this safari from Entebbe Airport in Uganda or from Kigali Airport in Rwanda. The Airport in Rwanda is closer to Bwindi that Entebbe. But all in all, whichever pick up location you use, the experience you get in these 4 days is rewarding and unforgettable.
