5 Days Rwanda Primate Safari

Pick up by our guide from your residence in Kigali or the Airport, he will brief you about this safari and after head southwest with you to Nyungwe Forest; home to over 400 Chimpanzees. Enjoy lunch on the way and stop at the Butare Museum, then later proceed to the Park arriving that evening. The guide will take you to the lodge, check in, unwind and have diner. An early morning breakfast will be served to you, and thereafter head out to the briefing point where you will be briefed about your day’s activities. After follow the guide into Nyungwe Forest for Chimpanzee tracking. When you see the Chimps, you will only have one hour to interact with them. In addition to the Chimpanzees, you will spot different bird species and other primate species including the L’Hoest’s monkeys, Grey-cheeked monkeys, baboons, vervet monkeys and red-tailed monkeys. After tracking, have lunch and in the afternoon go for the Canopy walk above Nyungwe forest.  The walk begins from the Uwinka reception, where you will be guided on this 160m suspended bridge. While on this walk expect to feed your eyes with beautiful views of this park and also see various wildlife species. The walk talks about 2 hours. Thereafter, your guide will take you back you the lodge for diner, unwinding and overnight stay. Accommodation options

Be early to rise, have breakfast and checkout of your lodge, leave Nyungwe and start a 6hour drive to Volcanoes NP, home to the Gentle giant gorillas. Of course this journey is endowed with great views of local communities and landscapes including a stunning view of Lake Kivu, you could have a stop there to take photos and proceed to Volcanoes. Arrive at your lodge in the late afternoon, check in and have diner and spend a night there. Accommodation Options;

Have an early breakfast, and drive to Kinigi head offices for briefing, carry along packed lunch and enough drinking water. After being briefed, you will be grouped in groups of 8 and allocated which gorilla family to trek. Enter into the forest with a skilled ranger guide to look for the Mighty gorillas. Upon meeting them, you are only given one hour to interact with them. How long the trekking process lasts depends on the movements of the gorillas in the jungle. After trekking you will be awarded with a certificate that shows that you trekked. In the afternoon, visit the twin lakes in the park premises known as Ruhondo and Bulera. The lakes will offer you stunning landscape views of the forests, the Virunga volcanoes and the surrounding communities. The lakes were formed through volcanic eruption and host various islands which are picturesque. If there is time you could go for a boat cruise on one of the lakes and thereafter drive to your lodge for diner. Accommodation Options;

Have breakfast and you driver will drive you to the Park head offices for briefing about tracking Golden monkeys and after make your way into the forest to see these beautiful creatures. Tracking them can go from 30minutes to over 4hours basing on their location. After locating these monkeys, only one hour will be given to you to interact with them, ensure to take enough pictures as guided by the park guide. After move back to the starting point to meet your driver guide, who will transfer you to the lodge for lunch, after check out and embark on a 2hours drive to Kigali. Arrive in the evening, and be dropped off at the Airport if you have a flight back home or at your Hotel in the City.
