Tourist Attractions in Mozambique

Gorongosa National Park

It is located in the heart of central Mozambique with an interesting and vibrant history covering an area of 3,770 sq km. It is one of the country’s most ecologically diverse parks and recognized safari destination, it is home to several wildlife species like elephants, zebras, buffaloes, waterbucks and endemic bird species.

Maputo

This is Mozambique’s capital city and it is located in the southern part of the country on Maputo Bay. It is home to over 1 million people, and also hosts various businesses, hotels, restuarants, statues like that of Samora Machel, landmark buildings, shops, museums including the national Museum of Art, the Revolution Museum and many more.

This city is also known of its tasty seafood especially the prawns, you can also enjoy eating other delicacies like that of the Portuguese, Chinese, Thai, Mozambican, English, Italian, Greek, and Ethiopian cuisines.

On the same coastline, also is another city called Inhambane which is one of the oldest cities on the eastern coast of Mozambique.  During the 11th century, Persian and Muslim traders used to carry out their trade in this city. This means that is has old buildings with great history, beautiful beaches and an extraordinary coastline.

Bazaruto Archipelago

When to go to Mozambique?

When to visit the country depends on what entirely you would like to do and see while there. Mozambique is gifted with tropical climate which is warm and hence makes the country, a preferred holiday destination. The best time to visit cannot be zeroed down easily, since in every season there is something you can do and see, however, the dry season which is from June to August, is considered to be the best time to visit especially the wildlife lovers.

But also, for those interested in snorkeling, diving into the ocean and viewing the incredible marine life, months of September and October are the most preferred. Those interested in viewing the Humpback whale migration, can visit between June and November and those in for sightseeing, May to September are suitable months.
