NOTE Difference between Gorilla Trekking and Gorilla Habituation

To the lovers of gorillas, this is the best safari for you since you will be able to trek gorillas and also engage in Gorilla habituation in Bwindi Forest in only 4 day, amazing! Both these activities are exciting and will be carried out in Bwindi Impenetrable NP. Gorilla trekking is an activity that involves walking through the forest searching for a particular family of Mountain gorillas. Trekking can last for 2 to 6 hours and an hour is given to the trekkers to spend with the gorillas once they meet them. Trekkers are divided into groups of 8 before they start with trekking. To be able to trek gorillas one need a gorilla permit which is issued by the Uganda Wildlife Authority and it costs $700. Whereas Gorilla Habituation is a fantastic activity since it involves spending 4 hours with a habituated family of gorillas. We recommend Gorilla habituation mainly to wildlife researchers and photographers since they get enough time to study the gorillas. Just like the normal gorilla trekking permits, also habituation permits are on high demand since only 4 permits are issued on a daily basis, so you are advised to book your safari in advance. The gorilla habituation permit costs $1500. Remember to pack some snacks, enough drinking water, a raincoat, camera, walking stick and hiking shoes for both these experiences. Also note that in case you don’t want to carry things on your own, there are porters ready to help carry your things but their services are at a fee.
